Telugu Diaspora- VIJAY PRATHAM

Every one are curious and interested in what Telugu Diaspora will do and have been doing for the under privileged and their contribution to social sector. Here I am about to elucidate a great service Telugu Diaspora is doing in the field of Education in Vizianagaram District of Andhra Pradesh. This is a slice of very important work changing the lives of more than 4,000 children in 200 villages and a movement called "VIJAY PRATHAM".

The journey of "VIJAYAPRATHAM" started in Dec 2001 taking a modus operandi and technical guidance from Pratham Mumbai Educational Institution. It started Remedial educational initiative by appointing 163 Balasakhis in 163 Village, later in year 2003-04 expanded to 200 centers. This programmed is designed for children who are identified by the class teachers as lagging behind academically. With a little extra care and encouragement to the children in the form of Balasakhis who is friend of children, to come up well in their studies have made a substantial progress in their basic Maths and language skills with accelerated learning programmes. This programme is initiated by Dr.Srinivasa Rao Kalasapudi of New York and DR. B.S.R.Murthy of Gajapatinagaram Vizianagaram dist. This programme is launched after several Discussions with Pratham Trustee Sri Madhav Chavan, Ms. Usha Rane and Ms. Rukmini Banerji and several others. The Programme is then handed over to "VIJAYA PRATHAM" Core team a group of highly committed and enthusiastic individuals consisting of Govt. School teachers also the core team helped us in constituting, conceiving and designing teaching material such as math's, and Telugu textbook in joyful learning and low cost and no cost teaching material.

The material core team prepared is very popular for its simplicity and can be replicated not only in Andhra Pradesh but in all southern states.Behind every success there are lot many people who devote their time, energy and resources for the successful implementation of the programme. The contribution of members from Telugu Diaspora in implementing the program is tremendous and inspiring, and at every stage we found Dr.BSR Murthy as our mentor to carry out the 
programme with utmost commitment in dedication. It is amazing to see the magnificent positive change education can bring into child's life. We are glad "VIJAYA PRATHAM" is playing Pivotal role in the lives of more than 4,000 kids directly and empowering more than 200 women volunteers to carry out their job. Our Balasakhis has now become Gramasakhi a friend of the village.
