Telugu Bhakti Pages- KVR Rao

India is an ancient country with great environment and culture of its own. It is called Veda Bhoomi, Punya Bhoomi. As Nehru said, even as India was lying prostrate politically, it spread its culture and tradition to Eastern Asia. Telugu is called the "Italian of the East" for its "Teeya Teneeya Paluku". We have great poets in our religion like Bhakta Pothana. He wrote Bhagavatam, which is very popular. He was struck in the midst of a poem 'Ala Vaikunata Puramlo'. God came down and completed it. Such is the greatness of his poems. Many such great slokas and poems are brought to our midst through Telugu Bhakti Pages as a one stop site.

The key person behind the Telugu Bhakti Pages is Mr.K V R Rao who bought a computer for his personal use four years ago, He was then teaching small and popular slokas to his lovable daughter Sri Snigdha. As a personal guide he stored these slokas in his computer, to begin with. Then he had a flash of an idea, 'Why not I send these to our Telugu People settled away from Andhra?' At once he did, and responses poured in . They all unanimously suggested that he should create a website and make it accessible to any Telugu man or Telugu lover. Help was rendered from various corners and the slokas were kept in the web site- www.telugubhakti.com

To get an idea is difficult to implement it is easy, especially philanthrapic job like this. Many Astottaras, slokas, stotras and mantras were added on different Gods and they were streamlined on different headings. Many like-minded people joined him and a panel of pandits were formed. When Pothana's Gajendra Moksham and Vemana's poems were added to the site, there was no end to the stream of applause, appreciation, wonder, excitement and what not, especially from the NRIs. They had the nostalgic feeling of being back at home town, at home, in the lap of their mother, in the presence of a teacher learning by rote such poems. There are more than 3000 regular visitors to these pages. On an average minimum of 30 mails are received from the visitors to these pages seeking the guidance, asking for advice, suggesting new ideas, sharing their experiences or showing their joy of success.

Objectives of Bhakti Pages

Like-minded people launched it, on 24th April 2000 as highly specialised site for Telugu People. The site promotes Hindu Dharmic culture through Internet. It is a one-stop site for slokas and stotras in Telugu script for Telugu People around the globe. If a Telugu man gets a wish to chant a stotra or sloka, his wish should not wane in search of books, or in search of somebody who could give that sloka. That is the main objective '

Edesamegina , endu kaalidina
Pogadara Nee Jatti Nindu Gouravamu.'

Wherever our Telugu people are, they should have our religious, literary works handy to hand them over to younger generations. They should carry with them the Teluguness and imbibe in their children our rich Indian culture.

The site is highly user friendly. It gets updated once in a month based on the needs of the viewers. People keep asking questions like how to do Sandhaya Vandanam, a sloka for Santana Yogam, for Naga Moola Mantra, how to preserve beetle leaves for Puja and so on. The Bhakti team
fulfils their needs after consultation with the team of pandits, scholars etc.

Devine Experiences

Mr. K V R Rao has many experiences to share with. On whatever God he was preparing the text; surprisingly he would get the Prasad or Photo of that God.

But when he was preparing the text for Siva, suddenly Bhakti Pages got disabled for reasons not known to him, nobody could access it. He felt that probably he was becoming too egoistic about this answer of God and God wanted him to put him in his place. So as atonement for his sin,
he fasted for nearly 11 days till Siva Rathri. Surprisingly the next day after Siva Rathri his Bhakti Pages started appearing on the web. Tears of joy rolled down the cheeks of K V R Rao.

He had yet another strange experience as he was working on Raghavendra Swami. For some unavoidable reason, his work came to a standstill. One day his close friend, as he was about to have Dharshan of Raghavendra Swami called him up from Mantralyam. He took it as message from God and resumed his work, but again there was a disturbance. This time , a Brahmin he knew 10 years ago who works in Anjeneya Temple , came to his doorstep with the Prasad of no other than Raghavendra Swami himself. K V R Rao's joy knew no bounds. He did not delay any further and completed it in a jiffy.

Responses of the viewers

The responses of viewers vary from praises to abuse.

1.A pundit in Canada uses Marriage file as his text for performing Marriages there.
2.Some Brahmins in Temples and Vedic Pundits outside Andhra are using these pages as references.
3.A team of people used the text for their Siva Rathri Puja in Mauritius.
4.Many young women abroad used the vratas pages for their puja away from home land
5.Many people got their wishes fulfilled by chanting some of the slokas especially Mangal Chandi Vratam. Unmarried got married, jobless people got jobs, people got these wishes fulfilled etc.
6.Whatever doubt they have in following the ritual or what ever sloka they want, they give suggestions freely. For instance Mantra pushpam Aigirinandii Aditya Hrudayam etc were asked by the viewers. There are many more such suggestions. Viewers suggested audio version also.
7.Very rarely some atheists or some who do not believe in a particular God did not want some slokas to be sent to them.
8.Many visited in person and appreciated and have taken Bhakti Pages CD for free distribution to their friends.

Future Plans

1.Currently Bhakti Pages is busy in providing a full-fledged section on yoga in association with Kapila Maharishi Research for Resources.

2.Telugu is the character of Bhakti Pages. It has presented the matter in chaste Telugu ( Telugu Font). As on today it is catering to the needs of first generation Telugus, who can read and write Telugu. However plans are on the anvil to present these pages again in transliterated form
to facilitate the second generation Telugus.

3.It has plans to provide Neethi Kadhalu for overseas Telugu kids in Audio to facilitate cultural and moral education. Once again this idea is given by the viewers from US to inculcate our culture and tradition to their young ones.

4.It has plans to conduct competition in recitation of Bhakti materials in school and to award prizes accordingly.

5.It would do many more such things as and when new idea crops up.

Concept of Religion

The Telugu Bhakti team has experienced the concept of oneness of God in the course of their work.We Hindus have Mukkoti Devatalu and Trimurthulu - Brahma, Vishnu Maheswara. Brahma -the creator. Siva the destroyer and Vishnu for sustenance. But ultimately these three are not three different Gods. They are three in one. They are one and the same God. This aspect they have personally experienced as they were feeding slokas on different Gods assuring them of success in whatsoever field. What does it mean? You call God by any name; pray to Him by any sloka - with undaunted faith in God (which God?) will answer your prayers. They wish their viewers would reach this stage of realisation on their own.
